UnderBoss / Saint
This is the the pinnacle of advancement, the Officers of Booty Dock Saints. The Underboss can pull things out of the Company Gear tab for you on request. They can promote members, set guild events, and demote troublemakers. This is a position of authority, and one that requires a certain level on common sense. The underboss can (on a case by case basis) withdraw money from the Guild Bank to loan to other players.
Soldier / Specialist
This is where most of your characters will reside once they have proven themselves not be complete prats.You will be able to draw on 10g per day to make item repairs (assuming folks are donating).
You can see the QUEST and REP, Raw Materials, Consumables, and Company Gear tabs and can add to all of them. You can withdraw gear from the first three tabs and should feel free to take anything immediately useful to levelling your professions, making gear for guildies, or to help with quests. Please do not take items from here just to stockpile them or AH them.
Peon / Contractor
This is where alts tend to sit. You can still access the guild bank, but have less functionality as far as guild access is concerned. You may not withdraw gold, or make repairs.
Guest Member
Purely for friends who do not want to be an active part of the guild. Guest Members may talk on the guild chat, and both look into and deposit things in the guild bank.

If you character is here you are in trouble. You lose most guild functionality until the issue that placed you here is resolved. You may not even speak on Guild Chat.
Member
Newly recruited members will sit here until promoted to the appropriate level.
